Want to escape from the travel masses and discover your own holiday secret hideaway? Whether it’s relaxing by the pool, taking a stroll amongst 1600 acres of lush green Jamaican countryside, it’s not hard to see why people come back to Green Castle time and time again. With two secluded villas, you can book either just a room or the entire villa which offers up to 3-4 bedrooms. We also offer full board.

This stunning location offers spectacular views across the Blue Mountains and the Caribbean Sea. Although it may feel like you’re in your own private world, you’re only an hour away from the hustle and bustle of Kingston.

That’s not all, Green Castle is rich in agricultural and historical heritage too. There are many examples of its earliest inhabitants, the Taino Indians for you to investigate. As a former plantation, Green Castle is working hard to build a long term plan for sustainable tourism, working in close proximity with the local community and local business partners.

Whether it’s a relaxing break you’re looking for or an adventurous hike or biking holiday, there’s something for everyone at Green Castle. To find out more about staying at Green Castle, Jaimaica’s premier eco-resort, please complete the reservation inquiry form on our home page or alternatively call us on 1-876-881-6279. We’d love to hear from you…

With over 1,600 acres of tropical gardens and lush green vegetation, it’s not hard to see why birds flock to this eco resort. There are numerous trails to explore which allow you to get up close and personal with birds such as the diminutive Jamaican Tody or the White-Chinned Thrush and if you’re lucky, the extremely rare Yellow-Shoulder Grassquit. If you’re feeling ambitious, you could try the enchanting Waterfall Trail which is a 2.6 mile walk which takes in an old plantation road that gently descends down to Mingo Falls where you might find Streamertails bathing in the waters. Other trails you can try include the ‘Davy Hill Lookout’, ‘The Tower Trail’ and the ‘Reservoir Trail’.

Cocoa has been grown on Green Castle since the 1700′s and at one time it was exported to Hershey’s for chocolate manufacturing. For many years nothing has been done with the cocoa fields and they are now being rehabilitated with the intention to start exporting through our Jamaica Cocoa Industry Board. Cocoa is once again fetching high prices worldwide and with the sale of our organic cocoa, (only organic agricultural products are grown on Green Castle) we hope to achieve strong sales from this produce. The cacao plant was discovered in Jamaica by Lord Sloane in 1687 when he was cataloguing plant cuttings. He later developed and owned the patent for what is called milk chocolate. Cocoa is a very popular drink as well as an ingredient used in baking such as the calorie-laden chocolate cake.

In the 1600′s cacao growing started on Green Castle and over the years the trees have been maintained and the beans sold to the Hershey’s factory in Manchester, England. For a period the price had been so low that Green Castle stopped investing to reduce costs and eventually stopped altogether. With the increase in price of cacao, Green Castle is once again becoming a vibrant organically produced cacao plantation as we are now investing in maintaining and harvesting the approximately 70 acres of cacao and will start selling again.
